Pumpkins in the Park
It’s a Halloween tradition that can’t be missed. Carvers and decorators of all ages are welcome to submit a pumpkin to the park’s annual pumpkin carving & decorating contest. Pumpkins are judged in four different categories — “Most Creative,” “Scariest,” “Most Traditional,” and “Funniest.” Winners are announced that evening and receive bragging rights. Bring your pumpkin to the event.
Also, the popular, pumpkin-lit Nocturnal Trail is back. On this Halloween adventure, families with little ones are invited to walk a short trail through the woods dotted with fun facts about the nocturnal animals found in the park. Along the trail, four “nocturnal animals” hand out candy to tick-or-treaters, so remember to wear your costume and bring a trick-or-treat bag and flashlight!
All attendees can enjoy Halloween-themed games & activities, costume parade, spooky music by Nate the DJ & more! Refreshments sold to support the park. Activities take place near the Music Court (stone stage).
Price: The jack-o-lantern/pumpkin decorating contest, games, music, and parade are FREE. Trick-or-treating on the Nocturnal Trail is $9/member family; $15/nonmember family; pumpkin decorating is $8/pumpkin. The Nocturnal Trail is listed online as a separate event, so folks who wish can register in advance.
Largest Parking lot is on Polley Lane (for GPS, use “135 Polley Lane, Walpole, MA 02032”).
No registration necessary. Questions? Membership? Please contact Maura (mogara@thetrustees.org; 508-668-6136). For updates and announcements, please follow Bird Park programs on Facebook @friendsofbirdpark.
