Step back in time to experience the life of a soldier during the American revolution during a military reenactment and living history day on the grounds of Alden House Historic Site.

Re-enactors from Colonel Bailey’s 2nd Massachusetts Regiment, Yarmouth Minutemen, and Old Colony Militia will present a day of military drills, tactical demonstrations, craft programs, and children’s activities. There will be a reenactment of Duxbury’s 1775 “Council of War” along with living history demonstrations in blacksmithing, coopering and a liberty tea reenactment.

Showcasing three tumultuous days in April of 1775 as Duxbury debated what to do in the aftermath of the Battles of Lexington and Concord, the Council of War re-enactment will dramatize meetings of militia leaders held at Alden House as they debated whether to attack the British garrison in neighboring Marshfield. The program will be presented throughout the afternoon.

Alden House will be open for tours during the program.
