Engineering Thoreau: Nature, Technology, and the Connected Life: The Annual Gathering of the Thoreau Society in Concord, Massachusetts, celebrates the life, works, and legacy of New England Transcendentalist writer Henry David Thoreau.

Thoreau's book WALDEN has inspired millions of people to live deliberately. Join the celebration with walks, talks, music, film, dramatic performances and four unforgettable days of events.

Join Thoreau scholars and enthusiasts who travel to Concord internationally to participate in events.

Over 75 presenters will be discussing Thoreau's ideas about the environment, social justice, living deliberately, and how his ideas relate to the complexity of modern times.

Featured speaker Deborah Cramer will honor the late poet Mary Oliver, the 2019 Thoreau Prize Winner.
