National Braille Press (NBP) will host a children’s braille book reading at the North End Branch of the Boston Public Library featuring North End resident Erin Connors. She ran the Boston Marathon in 2013 for NBP and wasn’t able to finish the race because of the bombing as she was a half mile from the finish. Undaunted, she is returning to take on the distance and hills of Boston to support the NBP in the 2019 Boston Marathon. Connors will participate in the book reading event where she and a braille reader will read from the children’s books “Grumpy Monkey” and “Mahnji Moves A Mountain” to raise awareness for braille literacy. She will also talk about her experience running in the Boston Marathon for the NBP.
NBP is the nation’s premier braille publisher located in Boston’s historic Fenway neighborhood and has been an innovator in the braille community since 1927. For blind people, braille is an essential means to literacy and NBP works to provide access to a lifetime of opportunity for blind people by producing a variety of information in braille.
