Best Things to Do in Atlanta This August 2021 with Kids

August in Atlanta is hot—and we don't just mean the temperature. Our calendars are heating up with fun events (The Dogwood Festival is back!) and kid-friendly activities at our favorite Atlanta attractions (like Dinosaur Birthday Bash at Fernbank). Plus, there are family-friendly festivals all across the city this August. Some of our favorites are Dunwoody's Lemonade Days and Decatur's BBQ, Blues and Bluegrass.

A lot of the August events are free, and if you like the sound of that, be sure to check out our list of Atlanta Attractions that Offer Free Admission for Kids.  Need more ways for the kids to burn off energy? We also have the scoop on 50 Fun Things to Do in Atlanta with Kids.  And because Atlanta is hot in August (this time we do mean the temperature), consider cooling off in one of these nearby Swimming Lakes and Beaches.
