In the summer of 1969, a music festival brought together an astounding lineup of legends and legends to be, Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Sly & the Family Stone, Gladys Knight & the Pips, Mahalia Jackson, B.B. King, the 5th Dimension and more.

We're not talking Woodstock: this was the Harlem Culture Festival, an epic event that celebrated Black history, culture and fashion.

A series of concerts held in Harlem’s Mount Morris Park, the Harlem Culture Festival drew over 300,000 spectators. It was filmed but the footage was never shown, until now.  Questlove has put together a documentary that's part music film, part historical record, interweaving the historical performances with interviews and other documentary footage.

Summer of Soul can be seen streaming on Hulu, as well as in select theatres.
