Teaching through Touch: The Connecticut Children's Museum

Imagine walking inside the great, green room in the beloved children's book "Goodnight Moon" where there is a telephone, a red balloon and a picture of the cow jumping over the moon. A room complete with the famous "comb and a brush and a bowl full of mush," allowing you play by the fireplace, lie down in the bed or open a cabinet filled with clocks and wind them all up. Well, at the  Connecticut Children's Museum in New Haven, you can.

11 Awesome Houston-Area Breweries Where Kids Can Play, Too

Houston's craft beer scene is top-notch, which we probably don't have to tell you. And it's also very kid-friendly - with some of the area's best brews housed in stellar spaces with outdoor games and room to play. Here are some spots we love to go as a family because there is room for the kids to run around, they are unpretentious, they don't make my husband and I feel bad if our toddler starts malfunctioning during our visit, and the beer is delicious.

For our favorite kid-friendly eateries, check out our roundup of restaurants with plenty of playing room.

Weekend Fun for LA Kids: Wistaria, Nature Fest, and St. Patrick's

Prepare to be invaded this weekend: by mechanical walking vehicles and overgrown vines. By creatures of the water; by creatures of the land and sky. By wriggling worms ... scratch that, by fluttery creatures.

By competitors fleet of foot and light on their toes. By loyal patriots (or invading armies, depending on your colors).

By scientists, tigers, and bunnies, oh my. And by an endless parade of green things.

So sit back and enjoy it. Because as invasions go, this one is going to be a blast.

Weekend Fun for Philly Kids: OrKIDS, St. Patrick Day, Easter Bunny, March 17-18

Philly families are in luck this St. Patrick's Day weekend. Throughout the Delaware Valley, there are many ways to find the proverbial pot of gold, in other words, activities that everyone in your crew can enjoy. From train rides to festivals to hikes, our event calendar is jam-packed with options.

Unfortunately for leprechauns, they share this weekend with the Easter Bunny as Philly kids look to get sweet treats for spring. Children can take a Hayride to Bunnyland, climb aboard the Easter Bunny Express, indulge in a delicious Brunch with the Bunny, or search for Easter eggs.

Plan out additional springtime fun by browsing throughout our recently updated posts highlighting Baby Animals and Easter Farm Fun and Easter Train Rides as well as our Spring Consignment Post. For now, keep reading for our top weekend picks.

Weekend Fun for Houston Kids: Circus Saurus, Spring Break Fun, March 17-18

This weekend is a big one! Not only is it the last weekend of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (so get your fill of all the free rodeo activities while you can!), but it's also the last weekend of city-wide Spring Break events, with activities happening in full force from the Lone Star Flight Museum to Blessington Farms and everywhere in between.

Fair weather and mild temperatures also make this the perfect time to start planning outdoor activities, and March marks the beginning of Bluebonnet season, the start of Spring fun, and crawfish, crawfish, crawfish

The family fun doesn't end there, though; our event calendar is packed with daily activities and events all over Houston, and our March GoList rounds up the top events taking place throughout the month. We also highly recommend taking a look at our Top 100 Things to Do With Houston Kids, also known as the ultimate bucket list of Houston landmarks and unique things to do around the city. Stay in the loop with all of our Mommy Poppins content and coverage by signing up for our weekly newsletter, and we'll send everything straight to your inbox.

Last, but certainly not least, if you're planning an event, we want to cover it! Let us help you get the most exposure by submitting your event to our calendar, and we'll do take it from there.

Now, let's spring forward into the weekend events!

Weekend Fun for Boston Kids: Happy St. Patrick's Day, Mar 17-18

Who's feeling lucky this weekend? The always-spirited St. Patrick's Day parade is winding its way through Southie this Sunday, Artbeat is crafting Leprechaun luck charms, and even the zoo is celebrating all things green. Speaking of holidays, there is a toddler-friendly Passover story and cooking event, and a chance to visit with a special bunny at Chip-In Farm (not to mention a potential Pi Day broken record!).

St. Patrick's Day Weekend Fun: Parades, Parties, and Painting

Okay, my friends, it's go time: the last weekend of winter is here, and we're ready (after this week's nor'easter, more than ready!) to say farewell to the snow and the cold. Celebrate the sweetest part of winter with a little maple sugaring in ReddingHebron, or Sharon or stay indoors to see a fun family show such as Goldilocks at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre in Bridgeport or Erth's Dinosaur Zoo Live at either the Shubert in New Haven on Saturday or the Jorgensen Center in Storrs on Sunday.

Weekend Fun for Westchester Kids: St. Patrick's Day, Easter Bunny Breakfast

With the March storms now behind us, this weekend is a great time to combat cabin fever and enjoy any of the many activities we’ve identified for Westchester and Hudson Valley families.

With St. Patrick’s Day falling on Saturday, the weekend is chock full of opportunities to wear your best green.  Among the many parades are the Mamaroneck-Sound Shore St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the Rockland County St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which is reported to be the second largest in the state.

Other seasonal fun includes maple sugaring with a pancake feast, having breakfast with the Easter Bunny, and making a spring bonnet for your American Girl doll.
