Weekend Fun for NYC Kids: Pi Day, St. Patrick's Day, Passover, Pinocchio March 14-15

It's a busy weekend for cool kids' culture in NYC, with five of our top family event picks for March taking place. Radio City's New York Spring Spectacular and the New Victory Theater's moody adaptation of Pinocchio both kick off this weekend, plus the Paper Bag Players perform at the Jewish Museum. Meanwhile, the Irish Arts Center celebrates St. Patrick's Day and the soon-to-close Streit's Matzo Factory's marks its final Passover on the Lower East Side.

New York Spring Spectacular – Midtown West
Another March GoList pick: Catch the legendary Rockettes in their brand-new spring revue celebrating the season and the city that never sleeps. The eye-popping production stars Tony Award winner Laura Benanti and Derek Hough from Dancing with the Stars, and features 3D effects, large-scale puppets and amazing recreations of NYC landmarks. $46-$150

Pinocchio – Midtown West
Another March GoList pick: Hit the New Victory Theater for this moody, multimedia adaptation of Carlo Collodi's 19th-century fairy tale. The adventures of the rebellious wooden boy are realized through live actors, a wide variety of puppets, trippy projections and videos, and rock 'n' roll. $14-$38

New York International Children's Film Festival – Manhattan
Its the penultimate weekend of the month-long family film fest. Cool screenings this weekend that still have availability include the features Lou about a bookish, cat-loving French tween, and Jellyfish Eyes by Japanese pop-art superstar Takashi Murakami. Saturday, March 14

Artopia! – Upper West Side
Try a variety of creative hands-on projects at Wingspan Arts' annual fest, which gives kids a taste of what the organization has to offer. This year's activities include theater, dance and music workshops, and live performances by current students. Face painting, button making and a photo booth are also on tap. FREE

Spring Into Nowruz: Persian New Year Family Day – Upper East Side
Ring in the Persian New Year at the Asia Society's annual fete featuring arts and crafts, traditional music and dance performances from Central Asia and Iran. $12 for adults, $5 for children

Danny Weinkauf & the Red Pants Band – Upper West Side
Rock out to the Grammy-winning bassist (of They Might Be Giants fame) and his new band at Symphony Space as they play kid-centric songs from their latest album, No School Today. $21 for adults, $14 for children

Pi Day – Flatiron
Due to rain, the morning event has been moved to the museum, and the evening event has been relocated to the indoor gymnasium at Baruch College. Celebrate National Pi Day at the Museum of Mathematics with a trio of special activities. The day kicks off in nearby Madison Square Park with a countdown to pi at 9:26am, followed by pi-themed activities in the museum like circular tic-tac-toe, puzzles and a scavenger hunt. Finally, at 8:30pm, math lovers can help create a massive circle of light in Madison Square Park depicting the definition of pi (the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, a.k.a. 3.14159265) and count down to 9:26pm. Madison Square Park events are FREE, but registration is required for the nighttime event. All museum activities are free with admission: $15 for adults, $9 for children

St. Patrick's Day Open House – Midtown West
And another March GoList pick: Hit the Irish Arts Center for one of our favorite St. Patrick's Day celebrations featuring crafts, soccer skills, a dance party and Irish culture workshops. FREE

Brooklyn St. Patrick's Day Parade – Park Slope
Put on your best green garb and mark the holiday at this small, family-friendly parade with bagpipers and lots of local Irish charm. FREE

Throggs Neck St. Patrick’s Day Parade – the Bronx
More St. Patrick's Day fun: This 17th annual procession kicks off with mass at St. Benedict's Church, followed by a complimentary breakfast and a parade around the neighborhood. FREE

Leprechaun Hike – Staten Island
Go on a one-mile hike at the Greenbelt Nature Center in search of elusive leprechauns and their pots of gold. FREE but advance registration required. Call 718-351-3450 or email naturecenter@sigreenbelt.org.

Paper Bag Players: Hot Feet and Theater & Art Workshop – Upper East Side
Yes, another March GoList pick: Catch the Paper Bag Players' latest sketch comedy revue at the Jewish Museum. Beforehand, children ages 6 to 10 can enjoy a creative theater and art workshop with the troupe. Show and workshop: $28 for adults; $20 for children; pricing for just the show or workshop also available

Passover Palooza – Lower East Side
Our final March GoList pick of the weekend: After 90 years in NYC, the Streit's Matzo Factory is moving out of town. Come say goodbye to this old New York institution at its annual Passover celebration, featuring a no-cost concert by kiddie rockers the Mama Doni Band and a tour of the facility. FREE

Carnegie Kids: Sbongiseni Duma – the Bronx
Catch an interactive concert by the African singer and drummer at the Bronx Library Center. Listen to the joyous sounds of the continent as "Bongi" and his band play djembe drums, acoustic guitar and bass, while incorporating traditional elements of African music like vocal clicks, call and response, hand movements and dance. FREE
