Poppins-pick.gifMost people who visit Washington Heights or Inwood for the first time will remark to me, "This neighborhood is great! I never knew a place like this existed in Manhattan!" Well, my fellow New Yorkers, if you have never been to the northern part of Manhattan, this Sunday you have no excuses. Besides the beautiful weather, Uptown Treasures is hosting a day of free family activities and events at eight awesome northern Manhattan sites, and to make things super easy for you, it will be complete with complimentary shuttle service that will schlep you between locations.

Some of these sites should already be on your to do list:

American Academy of Arts and Letters
The Cloisters
Dyckman Farmhouse Museum
Heather Garden in Fort Tryon Park
High Bridge Water Tower
The Hispanic Society of America
Morris-Jumel Museum
The National Track & Field Hall of Fame Museum

If you can't make it to all eight, I would suggest you definitely stop by these three highlights:

The Cloisters Museum, a branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art that houses the medieval art collection. Family programs and a medieval music concert are planned for the day.

Highbridge Water Tower, part of the old Croton Aqueduct that used to transport NYC's water to residents in the 1800s. Park rangers will be giving tours of this beautiful tower.

Morris-Jumel Mansion, the oldest house in Manhattan, was once inhabited by George Washington during the Revolutionary War. This site is hosting some fun family activities including a colonial dance, quill writing, and a treasure hunt.
