Me

I've been fascinated to learn how the brain's executive function challenges many kids in school and at home.

The Big Kid

My daughter loved this so much, we read it aloud to the whole family. Then moved on to the next one.

A wonderful story with great illustrations and an environmental message that's not preachy or scary.

200902082327.jpgOver the weekend a few things crossed my mind.  Primarily, at nine years late, should I completely abandon the idea of getting my wedding gift thank-you cards written?  The answer I’ve come to is yes.  Yes I am a shmuck, and yes I should give up the guilt.  But then I ran into this website that has the very coolest stationary and back story (which I’m guessing is fiction?  I hope?) And I really love the cards.  Maybe I’m digging these enough to send out the nine-year late cards?  Naaaaah.  But I will pick some up for future use, for I am older and wiser and more socially apt.

After finding this treasure, I also found out that the way my husband parents our child is not completely wrong, I found out how to deal with my son being bullied, I found out some simple tricks I can use to pretend I’m awesome in the kitchen, and I continued to mourn Lux Interior.  Wanna see?

Virgil O Stamps’ website tells me this: “Your business cards and invitations and stationary and notecards and envelopes are all little pieces of you.”  True!  But I didn’t think I was this clever.  Find out your true identity here. (Virgil O Stamps)

Every mom I know thinks that compared to their child’s father, they’ve got the parenting code hacked.  Turns out we’re wrong.  Dad’s technique may just be better.  (Parenting)

Most parents have to deal with it sometime – either their child is a victim of bullies, or is a bully.  Either way it’s a tough thing to go through.  Get some good help here. (Mom Logic)

My goal this winter has been to try to start cooking healthier meals for my family.  Ok, truth: actually, to start cooking at all.  This tip sheet gives amateurs like me the ol’ one-two punch we need in the kitchen to get going.  (Simple Mom)

The news this week that Lux Interior of seminal New York punk band The Cramps died made many grown up punk parents sad.  Maybe they can be cheered up with the news that the phone number 867-5309 is up for sale?  (NY Times, Gawker)

What a neat and creative idea! With our 13month recuperating from strep pharyngitis, it'd be nice to celebrate with him at home!

How wonderful! Susie's

Submitted by Michelle (not verified) on February 9, 2009 - 10:10pm.

How wonderful! Susie's Supper Club sounds like a great way to make everyday special and what a wonderful day to start celebrating on Valentine's Day!

I love that Susie's food is organic and is supporting local farms -The menu items sound delicious on the website such as the Asian Skirt Steak, Pork Tenderloin and Scalloped Potatoes as well as the Tomato Soup and I love the Mini Crustless Quiches -our favorite! What a great way to start our 2 year old on new healthy foods!

Our table is set with our Wedgwood -Now all we need is some wonderful food from Susie's Supper Club to make our table complete with love for our family!

My mother's always gone over

Submitted by pamela (not verified) on February 9, 2009 - 1:27pm.

My mother's always gone over the top to celebrate Valentine's Day with her children - I'm excited to extend the tradition with Susie's and the idea of a family picnic. Children are the most fun to spoil, especially with good food.

I've got all sorts of food

Submitted by Beth Perry (not verified) on February 9, 2009 - 1:18pm.

I've got all sorts of food allergies, etc. - so eating out/bringing in is tricky. It sounds like Susie's healthy food might be a good way to love up my body as well as my family!
Happy Valentine's Day!

as I try to feed our family

Submitted by Valerie (not verified) on February 9, 2009 - 12:27pm.

as I try to feed our family of 4 healthy, tasty and natural food everyday, and on a budget, Susie's dinner club Would be a wonderful break! And I love the idea of celebrating with a picnic in the living room: my 4 year old princess would just love it (and my 2 year old son would just love stepping all over it!). Ah the romance of a young happy family!

My girls LOVE it when I do

Submitted by Bri (not verified) on February 9, 2009 - 11:34am.

My girls LOVE it when I do picnics on the living room floor with a blanket and all the fixin's (which means set up their dolls at the picnic, as well). Susie's Supper Club would make my life easier: guilt-free cuz I would be providing healthy food for my family, and stress-free cuz I'd be able to focus on setting up the fun picnic and giggling with my girls about it all. Thanks for the opportunity. Happy Valentine's all!

What a great idea! Have never heard of Susie's but would love to try it. We're definitely not into the overpriced restaurant thing, so this would be perfect!

Submitted by Julie (not verified) on February 9, 2009 - 11:04am.

I can't wait to try Susie's supper club! Although I love to cook, with a newborn it can be impossible to devote the time to it!
Sounds like valentines day would be the perfect time to try it out!
