Just cause the last time you sat down to read a newspaper was when "pooped out" still meant tired to you doesn't mean you can't stay up to date with what's going on. We've rounded up the top stories you don't want to miss from the NYC media this week.

Urban Farm.  Treehugger reports on this summer's PS1 courtyard installation.  It will have an urban vertical farm where they will be growing tomatoes and other veggies, a chicken coup with egg-laying chickens and a little river that looks perfect for toddlers.

Bananas.  Watch this NY Times video with Mark Bittman and a three year old fan as they make

banana popsicles.  The kid was discovered on you tube where he does a hysterical rendition of Bittman making chocolate ganache though when he gets into the NY Times kitchen he turns adorably camera-shy.  Not to worry though, turns out that in addition to being an amazing recipe author, Bittman is also pretty sweet with kids.  Then you can read this fascinating op-ed on bananas also from the NY Times which may make you think twice about the tropical fruit.

Attention to Work.  Many moms struggle to figure out the perfect work schedule, if that even exists. This week the NY Times writes about mompreneurs who have figured out how to have it all and talks with a specialist on the subject of avoiding distraction and staying focused in this multi-tasking world.

Summer Streets.
Just like Manhattan, Curbed reports that Brooklyn will get its own Summer Streets, the new Bloomburg initiative that temporarily bans cars on large stretches of city streets so they can be used for more fun things like bike riding. Could Queens be next?

Booty Heels. Continuing with the trend of dressing kids up like adults, Gothamist reports on a new line of baby booties that are shaped like high heels.  I don't know about you but I'm making my daughter wait until she is 3 to get her first pair of Manolos.
