Help shape the parks of our children's future

The National Parks Conservation Association is reaching out to NYC parents to get our input on the redevelopment of Gateway National Park. Specifically they are holding a design competition for a new park at Floyd Bennett Field in Queens and have invited Mommy Poppins readers to vote. There are several designs in play, each bringing back the native marshland. T seems like the amin differences in the designs in how people will interact with the park. I thought the one that turns the park into an environmental research center sounds interesting, assuming that there will be educational programs available, especially for kids. It could be a great resource. To vote and for more info check out the national conservation association site. You have until September 15, 2007 to make your vote count and the winning entries will be presented later in the fall to the National Park Service.
