The temperature is heading south again this weekend so it might be a good idea to take advantage of the 2 for 1 entries at most NYC museums this weekend thanks to The New York Times Arts and Leisure Weekend. Read on for the best (mostly) free kid events for this weekend from the juvenile humor of the Striking Viking Story Pirates to the high brow classical Carnegie Hall Neighborhood Concert.

Saturday, January 10

Storyteller Bill Gordh at Scandinavia House—Not your average story book hour. Bill Gordh is our favorite storyteller. Catch him as he brings Norwegian tales alive with his banjo and the H.C. Anderson Storytellers.

Yiddish 101 at JCC—You don't have to know a word or even be Jewish to learn this cacamamie language that gives English its most fun words. Daniel Najman teaches this family friendly event through art and song.

Striking Viking Story Pirates—If Jon Stewart, one of NY's funniest dads, thinks these guys are a riot, it's good enough for me. Take the trip to the Bronx to see them for free. Ages 5 and Up.

Chelsea Art School Open House —Check out this new art program with free classes all day for kids ages 2-14.

Russian Winter Carnival — At the Synagogue for the Arts in Tribeca enjoy this multicultural celebration with traditional Russian singing, dancing, games, and gifts. Adults free, children $15.

High Brow —Free classical music concert as part of the Carnegie Hall Neighborhood Concert Series will be performed at the Abrons Art Center on the Lower East Side.
