Summer is closing in on us so make the most of it with this weekend's line-up of FREE events!

RiverFlicks for Kids - if you still haven't caught any outdoor movies this summer, here is your chance. Head over to Hudson River Park to catch the original Willie Wonka and munch on some free popcorn. Check out our Free Outdoor Movies for Kids post for a full line up of other outdoor movie festivals. Friday, movie starts at 8:30pm. FREE

Summer Streets - enjoy the 6.9 miles of car free route

on Lexington and Lafayette again this Saturday. And while you there you can catch one of their classes, from children's percussion to break dancing classes there are a lot of great free offerings going on as well, check out there exhaustive list of activities for more. Saturday 7am - 1pm. FREE.

Have a Puppet Day
- Catch the Puppet Pageant: Evangeline, Evil and Danicing in the Street at Lincoln Center Out of Doors, in Damrosch Park. Saturday, 2pm FREE. And then head over to CMOM and sculpt a baby animal pencil puppet out of Model Magic. Saturday, 10am-12pm & 1:30 - 4pm. FREE with price of admission.

Harlem Day - multiple stages with live performances including a celebration of Gospel and Jazz, the Upper Manhattan Auto Show and a Children's Festival. Sunday, 11am - 8pm. FREE.

Let the Sunshine In.
Catch the Public Theater performance of Hair at the Delacourt Theater in Central Park which will be running thru Sept. 7. You can pick up your free tickets on the day of the performance at 1pm but the line starts forming much earlier so plan a picnic breakfast in the park to ensure getting a spot. Limit of two tickets per person and the show starts at 8pm so bring the kids along for the ticket waiting and then get a babysitter so you can go to the show! They also have a virtual line this year which is a lottery if you want to try for that and avoid the line waiting part entirely. If you need some inspiration, check them out on YouTube.
