6/19/07 - By Anna Fader

This is our first entry in a series of posts about last minute camp openings for kids in NYC. Every day for the next week, we will be posting more exceptional camps for children of all ages that still have openings. If you are interested make sure to register soon because these spots will go fast.

Brooklyn Cultural Adventures Programs (BCAP) is the only camp in the world on a campus composed of an art museum, botanic garden, children's museum, historic house, nature center, landmarked park, state-of-the-art public library, and zoo! Campers enjoy carefully crafted curriculum led by instructors at each site, often combined with behind-the-scenes access.

That's because Brooklyn Cultural Adventures Programs is a summer camp sponsored by Heart of Brooklyn, a unique partnership among six of Brooklyn's most treasured cultural institutions: Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Brooklyn Children's Museum, Brooklyn Public Library, Brooklyn Museum, Prospect Park and Prospect Park Zoo. BCAP takes advantage of these incredible resources by offering hands-on experiences for children: projects, games, and educator led tours that weave connections between art, world culture, literature, history, nature, and science. This is an exceptional program and opportunity to for children to engage deeply with the incredible resources available in Brooklyn. Brooklyn Cultural Adventures Program still has a few spots left during their second camp session, which runs from July 16-27 for ages 9-12. The theme for BCAP camp session 2 is "Treasures in the Heart of Brooklyn." Treasures in the Heart of Brooklyn creates a treasure hunt through the great cultural institutions of Brooklyn. Children wind their way from clue to clue and unlock the riches of these cultural collections. To register, parents can visit the website or call 718-638-7700.
