Where the Wild Things Are Movie Takes New York City

Everyone's going crazy for Where the Wild Things Are movie coming out later this week. And New york City is so excited they've dedicated the entire week to the movie launch. This week you can hear the story read by the actors from the movie, get your picture taken in a scene from the film and see, or even buy, original illustrations from the book. Check out these fun, and free, events celebrating Where the Wild Things Are.

Book Reading Today, October 13 at 4pm, join the film's stars at the New York Public Library's Children Center at 42nd St,as Catherine Keener, Forest Whitaker and Max Records will read the book aloud to fans of all ages. (Limited seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.)
Photo Op Special free photo booths will allow you to superimpose your image on a scene from the film. The booths will be located at The New York Public Library Children's Center(42nd and 5th) on October 14 and 17, and at the Official NYC Information Center (810 7th Avenue at 52nd St) from October 13–16. Your kids can practice their best Wild Thing impressions (like that'll be hard for them).
Get Into The Art There will be an exhibit of the original Maurice Sendak artwork at the Morgan Library & Museum and a Spike Jonze retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art, but neither show will be paricularly child-friendly. Kids are welcome, however, at the Animazing Gallery in SoHo where you can see and even purchase over 200 original Sendak illustrations and prints.
