Weekly Wrap Up: Easter Bunny Photo Ops and Egg Hunts in NYC, Harry Potter Exhibit and More

4/7/11 - By Raven Snook

It's been a busy week at all of the Mommy Poppins sites! Must be the time of year: April brings Easter, Passover, spring break, Earth Day and a host of popular festivals like the Tribeca Family Festival Street Fair and Sakura Matsuri.

Don't worry: You won't need to try to cram all of those activities into one weekend. But since they're coming up, we wanted to give you a heads up, so you had time to mark your calendars.

Read on to see what else we covered this week on Mommy Poppins, in NYC, Long Island, New Jersey and Connecticut.

OUR LATEST VIDEOS

New York City

Although Easter isn't until April 24, we have the holiday on the brain. We rounded up egg hunts across the city (organized by borough), and spots where your little chicks can pose with the Easter Bunny.

We're really enjoying the spring theater season, particularly the clever kids' musical Revolting Rhymes, based on the darkly humorous poems of Roald Dahl. We also got a gander at the new Harry Potter exhibit in Times Square, one of six spring exhibits for kids that we're super excited to see.

The Tribeca Film Festival kicks off on April 20, and as usual, there's a lot of great programming for kids. In addition to annual favorite Tribeca Family Festival Street Fair, we share info on other awesome TFF events, such as free "drive in" movies (including The Muppets Take Manhattan!), Tribeca/ESPN Sports Day and a brand-new celebrity soccer fest.

If you have an infant (or are pregnant!) don't miss our first birthday party post, which is full of tips, advice and ideas from the experts, a.k.a. moms who've already lived through it.

We've got an eye-opening interview with Dr. Martha Howard of Chicago, about the undeniable connection between the foods we eat and ADHD as well as other health issues.

And of course, we rounded up the best things to do for families this weekend, including the Queens County Farm Museum's Children's Carnival, a Touch-a-Truck fest in Brooklyn, a massive benefit concert for Japan and more.

New Jersey

Garden State families who have a special needs child should check out our roundup of camps tailored to their interests and abilities.

And there's tons of fun for the weekend, including an American Girl fashion show at the Newark Museum and a beekeeping demo in Lambertville.

Long Island

LI has a roundup of spring break camps and activities to keep the kids entertained. The weekend event roundup should be up on the homepage on Friday.

Connecticut
,
Over in Conn, the staff's already thinking about next season. That's why they rounded up 10 Summer Sports Camps.
