Ice-skating rinks are opening up for the Winter 2009 season. Check out our favorite rinks here. If you’re done with apples but still looking for some on-the-farm excitement, see which turkey farms you can visit on Long Island here.

And here’s an MP tip: It is the end of the harvest, and farmers’ markets are still selling the rest of their bounty. Root veggies are totally sweeter towards the end of fall, since they naturally convert starch to sugar in order to stay alive as the temperature drops. Find farmers’ markets in your area at LocalHarverst.org.

And for even more events this weekend, check out our calendar, or, see what’s going on in New Jersey and on Long Island.
