Long Island Weekend Events October 2nd-3rd: Fall Harvest Festivals, Fairs, Music and More

After a prolonged summer, finally some nice cool weather is headed our way, officially bringing with it a real, autumn feel. The theme for this weekend’s activities: fairs, festivals and fun-filled fall! And if you've had your fill of pony rides and bounce houses, take a break at the Rock the Harvest music and wine festival, where kids get in free and five local bands are playing. Enjoy the crisp weather--and the apples!

Talk about fun-filled days ahead! Take part in countless great events and watch performances including puppet and magic shows, traditional music and dancing, old time baseball, juggling, storytelling and so much more. There’s simply too much to list – go see for yourself! The cost is $12 for adults, $8 for seniors, children 5-12 and volunteer firefighters.

There’s a little something for everyone at this sizable street fair! Sample international foods, live entertainment from a variety of bands. dozens of craft vendors, dance and karate demonstrations and kids rides to keep the little ones entertained. FREE admission to the festival, $12 admission for unlimited rides in the Kids Expo arena. 

 

Children’s Festival and Craft Fair

A day made for the little ones. Pony rides, clowns, bounce castles and a petting zoo are just a sampling of the activities. Parents can enjoy the craft fair part – so everyone goes home happy! The cost is $5 donation per car. Donations go to the Child Care Council of Suffolk Parent Leadership Initiative Program.

Take part in Long Island’s only independent music and wine harvest festival. The $20 charge for adults includes a complimentary glass of wine and keepsake glass. Children are free and all are invited to listen to the music of 5 local bands – Big Suga, Kerry Kearney Band, Big River Ransom, Jay Scott Band and Taost.

Fall Pumpkin Festival

Jumpstart the pending transition to autumn. Choose one of three locations of the Harbes Family Farm and get the kids excited about fall festivities. Each location has slight variations and activities, so check their website to determine which locale is perfect for you and your family. Among the great events you’ll experiences are pick-your-own-pumpkins, pony rides, hay and wagon train rides, maze madness and much more. There is no admission to the farm or charge for parking. Individual activities range from $3 up.
