Celebrate our nation’s independence with old-fashioned family fun! Visit Historic Richmond Town for home-churned ice cream, a patriotic pinwheel parade, and an inspirational reading of the Declaration of Independence.
Talk with costumed interpreters inside the historic Guyon-Lake-Tysen farmhouse and visit historic tradespeople in New York City’s living history village.
Activities:
- Sign your name to the Declaration of Independence.
- Visit historic houses and shops for live demonstrations of historic trades, including tinsmithing, hearth cooking, and more.
- Master Storyteller Jonathan Kruk regales audiences with Staten Island Seas Stories & Sea Monsters.
- Participate in a dramatic reading of the Declaration of Independence and march in a Patriot’s Parade through the center of Town.
- Meet living historians portraying George Washington and Betsy Ross.
- Learn about the science behind old fashioned fireworks
- Phydeaux’s Flying Flea Circus and Wahoo Medicine Show re-creates the midway amusements of the 19th century, with shows all day.
Special Features Each Day:
July 1: Live patriotic music by the Richmond County Orchestra. Then, ring in the Declaration of Independence with a special bell-ringing by Natalia Paruz (TheSawLady).
July 2: The New Jersey Fife and Drum Corps lead the Patriot’s Parade!
