I've been fascinated to learn how the brain's executive function challenges many kids in school and at home.

My daughter loved this so much, we read it aloud to the whole family. Then moved on to the next one.

A wonderful story with great illustrations and an environmental message that's not preachy or scary.

Holiday Links, Big Sale News, and How You Can Help Fund a NYC Public School Library (maybe yours)

It's Christmas. I hope you are having a wonderful day with your family and this little Christmas post will share a little bit of seasonal joy with you. I have some fun (if belated) holiday links to share, plus Swapna sent in a great tip about a huge sale at the Disney Store.

I also want to thank VTech Toys for working with me to provide some of their great toys to the children of Nazareth Houses. I'm sure that made their Christmas mornings to get such awesome gifts. And I have some news about how you can help raise money for a NYC public school library. It could even be yours.

Some belated Holiday Links: (Sorry these are late, I've been busy)

There's lots of gimmicks for having Santa send a message to your kid, but this one is pretty cool.

Desiree sent me the link to this NJ mom who sings "funky music with a Jewish twist." Check out her video, Chanukah Fever.

Seventh Generation gives some good tips for reducing waste this Holiday Season from using air popped popcorn instead of packing peanuts to wrapping gifts in newspaper comic pages. Read them all.

The Disney Store in midtown is closing its doors on December 31 and having a huge sale with 50-75% off almost everything.

Lastly, as I close out this year I've been trying to decide how I can do more with Mommy Poppins to give back to the community. After visiting a well regarded public middle school, I was saddened to see how sparse the library was and decided that I'd like Mommy Poppins to help a NYC public school build up its library. So, I'm running a little contest on twitter. If I get 3000 followers on twitter, Mommy Poppins will donate 10 cents for every follower I have on that date, up to $1000. I'm only 120 followers away from 3000, so I hope we can get there. You can follow me on twitter here. I'll pick a school based on followers' recommendations. So after you follow me be sure to tweet and tell me what school we should donate to and why. Please spread the word.

Merry Christmas, Everyone.

Watch the Muppets sing Carol of the Bells.
