Halloween Fun at Chelsea Market
Last week I wrote about some not too spooky haunted houses to take the kids to. I'm adding Chelsea Market as another great Halloween destination for spooky and fun decorations, treats and a big Halloween event this Friday.
On Friday, October 30 from 2-5pm visit the Chelsea Market Mash, which will have trick or treating, face painting clowns, stilt walking and a DJ. Just a hunch, but I'm guessing this event will be a bit of a mad house. If possible go right at 2pm.
But you can enjoy Halloween at Chelsea Market all week without the crowds. The whole place is decorated so a walk through almost feels like a haunted house perfect for little kids, particularly the fountain area which has some pretty spooky scenes. You'll also want to check out the various shops to see the wonderful Halloween treats they're selling.

Please note, I brought my child today to Chelsea Market for trick-or-treating (a bit after 2 p.m.). It was the biggest disappointment ever. I would hardly describe it as a great Halloween destination. Save your time and energy! Most of the stores do not welcome trick-or-treaters; and those that do are really stingy. Also, it was difficult trying to explain to my 2 1/2 year old why some of the store clerks gave him candy and others were looking at him like he had 4 heads. In my opinion either all the stores should agree to have trick-or-treating or none at all. It's too much of a hassle trying to figure out which ones are in the spirit and which are unwelcoming. It's rather unfortunate as we really patronize Chelsea Market all year long!

I think you're chancing it a bit going trick-or-treating the day before Halloween.
