Baby Einstein Offering Full Refund on Their DVDs

In a smart move, Baby Einstein is offering a full refund to anyone who purchased their DVDs in the past 5 years after complaints that the videos are not, in fact, educational.

Cool Mom Picks tipped us off that the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood had convinced Baby Einstein to compensate parents who had bought their DVDs under the advertised claim that they were educational. FOr anyone who has purchased a Baby Einstein between June 5, 2004 and September 4, 2009 Baby Einstein will offer a full refund or an exchange. See their site for details.

While all of the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood focuses on the DVDs not being educational, they don't mention the research that I recently read about in NurtureShock, which is that not only are Baby Einstein videos not educational, but that babies who watched them actually delayed their language development.
