Ready for some fun this weekend? In addition to our 10 Best Halloween Events for Kids on Long Island and Best Haunted Houses on Long Island for Kids, we've got pumpkin carving contests, apple festivals, adventures with Hansel and Gretel and fairy house building.  Read on to see what other fun activities lie ahead for Long Island families this weekend.

Admission: Free
Hicks Nurseries invites families out for a Pumpkin Carving Contest. Categories for the contest include Best Decorated Pumpkin, Funniest Pumpkin and Best Carved Pumpkin. There is also a category just for children ages 12 and under.

Make your voice heard as a parent! Attend the 2011 Parents Convention and have your voice heard by political candidates. Take part in workshops and forums. There will be donation boxes on site for nonperishable food items and school supplies.
