Weekend Fun for Westchester Kids: Spring, The Easter Bunny, Live Shows & More, April 5 & 6

The birds are chirping and baseball is in the air. Spring has arrived. There are plenty of events happening around Westchester this weekend to get the family out of the house. Join The Trailside Nature Museum for a hike around the park to look for signs of spring. The Hudson Highlands Museum is celebrating Trout Weekend with crafts and activities all weekend.

Easter and Passover events begin this weekend. Have breakfast with the Easter Bunny at the Westchester Mall, make some matzah at the Chabad of the Rivertowns, or create Passover decorations at the JCC of Mid-Westchester.

A live performance of Disney’s Aladdin Jr. takes place all weekend at the Irvington Town Hall Theater. Catch Galumpha, a performance combining stunning acrobatics, striking visual effects, physical comedy, and inventive choreography.

ALL WEEKEND

Larchmont Brickfest  Larchmont
Explore a world created out of Lego bricks at the Larchmont Library. This 300 square foot display will entertain people of all ages. Along with the display will be "seek and find" challenges, building events, a "creativity corner" and a variety of premium Lego sets for raffle. $5.

Trout Weekend Cornwall-on-Hudson
In celebration of this two day event at the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum, activities include: Special "meet the animals" at 1pm and 2:30pm, with live fish presentations, Brookie feeding times at 1:30pm and 3pm. Visitors will also enjoy crafts and activities on both days. $3.

Disney’s Aladdin Jr. – Irvington
All of your favorite characters are here - Aladdin, Jasmine, and of course, the Genie - at the Irvington Town Hall Theater. Filled with magic, mayhem, and flying carpet rides, this show makes audiences' spirits soar. Most of all, the tuneful, Academy award-winning score, with songs including A Whole New World and Friend Like Me, mean this musical will be a favorite for years to come. Perfect entertainment for the entire family. $15-$20.

SATURDAY

Ah, Spring Cross River
The wonderful sounds, smells and sights of spring have inspired many a poet to lament upon this rebirth of life in the fields and forests. Join The Trailside Nature Museum for a hike around the park to look for signs of spring as you stop at some of the beautiful areas of the park to hear readings of works from many famous poets and authors. FREE.

Breakfast With the Easter Bunny White Plains
Have breakfast with the Easter Bunny at The Westchester Mall. Kids will enjoy breakfast from Au Bon Pain, Easter crafts & games, DJ & dancing, and of course...meet the Easter Bunny. $5.

GalumphaMamaroneck
A top pick on our April Go List, this show combines stunning acrobatics, striking visual effects, physical comedy and inventive choreography. Galumpha brings to life a world of imagination, beauty, muscle and merriment at the Emelin Theater. $13.

SUNDAY

Holiday Workshop for Families: Passover Scarsdale
Create fun holiday decorations and displays at the JCC of Mid-Westchester to adorn tables for the upcoming spring holiday. $35 parent/child pair.

Model Matzah Factory – Dobbs Ferry
A fun hands-on pre Passover activity at the Chabad of the Rivertowns. Re-enact the process of manufacturing matzah within 18 minutes, the time limit in which matzah must be made. $5.

Do You Really Want a Rabbit – Katonah
Join the 4-H Rabbit Club at Muscoot Farm to learn what's involved in owning a pet rabbit before visiting the pet store. FREE.

BEYOND WESTCHESTER

All we families can head to the Whitney Museum of Art on NYC's Upper East Side for the Whitney Biennial Family Party--the last one before the Museum relocates further downtown to the Meatpacking District. Families are invited to enter the Museum an hour before it opens to the public to participate in interactive tours, gallery activities and an art workshop.

Old Greenwich, CT is hosting the Greenwich Kite Festival on Saturday. Families are encouraged to bring kites of all shapes and sizes, made of plastic, paper or fabric. Award ribbons will be presented to all high fliers.
