Weekend Fun for NJ Kids: Seafood Fest, Mad Hatter Tea Party, Sept 12-13

Fall is in the air, and judging by the number of outdoor fairs and festivities this weekend, it’s going to be a busy, fun-filled season. Come hungry to the Atlantic City Seafood Festival and Oasis Farm’s Apple Festival. Have old-fashioned fun at Belvidere Victorian Days and 1920s Country Fair & Harvest Festival. Even the family dog gets in on the action at the Fifth Annual Bark-a-Que. Whatever you decide to do this weekend, we hope you enjoy it with family and friends. Atlantic City Seafood Festival (Atlantic City, NJ)
You can bet on delicious foods at this 4th annual AC festival, featuring an array of seafood, live music, cooking demos, children’s activities, local artist, a crab-eating contest, and much more. Admission is free, but there is a parking fee.

Apple Festival (Robbinsville, NJ)
Enjoy your favorite apple concoctions, including apple pie, apple cobbler, caramel apples and apple cider at this Oasis Farm event. Children can participate in wagon rides, sand art, crafts and an apple pie-eating contest. Pre-registration is recommended, and admission is free.

Belvidere Victorian Days (Belvidere, NJ)
Take a step back in time and experience the Victorian Days in this quaint town along the Delaware River. Activities include period-related live entertainment, crafts, vendors and an antique car show. Admission is free.

Hefty Harvest & Scary Scarecrows (Camden, NJ)
Bring the family to Camden Children’s Garden for this annual harvest celebration, featuring games, crafts and fun. Plus, create your own full-sized scarecrow!

Saturday, September 12th

MAM Lawn Party (Montclair, NJ)
The Montclair Art Museum hosts a special outdoor event in honor of the exhibition Eric Carle: Animals and Friends. Festivities include a Parents Who Rock 10th Anniversary Benefit Concert, free family-friendly activities and food vendors. Free admission.

Mercer County Insect Festival (Pennington, NJ)
Bees, bugs, butterflies and bats are the focus of this annual event at the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association. A puppet show, hay rides and an insect hunt are all part of the fun. Admission is free.

Fifth Annual Bark-a-Que (Summit, NJ)
Have doggone fun with the family, and your pup, at this annual event, held in Summit’s Village Green. There will be canine contests, ice cream, children’s activities and vendors. Perhaps you’ll even come home with a new furry friend.

Bedminster Fall Fest (Bedminster, NJ)
Come to River Road Park for a day of fall fun, with live music, food, trucks, games and rides. Kids will also enjoy hay rides, face painting and bounce houses.

Sunday, September 13th

1920s Country Fair & Harvest Festival (Morristown, NJ)
Party like it’s the 1920s at Fosterfields Historical Farms, with old-fashioned wagon rides, farm animals, food trucks, crafts, demonstrations and period games. Enjoy hands-on activities for the whole family.

A Mad Hatter Tea Party (Hamilton, NJ)
Everyone’s invited to an Alice in Wonderland tea party at the courtyard of Grounds for Sculpture. Join Alice, the Queen of Hearts, the March Hare and the Mad Hatter for tea, cookies, finger sandwiches and other treats. Reservations are required.
