Monsters, Demons & Other Unusual Creatures - Lloyd Harbor. At Caumsett Park, this naturalist-led hike will take participants on an adventure to learn about unusual sea creatures. Free.

Kids Consignment Sale - Oakdale. Head to Best Market Shopping Center for discounts and deals on kiddie items.

Backpack Adventure - Hampton Bays. At Ponquogue Beach, join naturalist educators they lead kids on a hunt for tracks, shells, jelly fish and more. Offered by the South Fork Natural History Museum.

Search and Find Scavenger Hunt - Hicksville. At Ikea, use photo clues to complete a scavenger hunt. Free.

Kids Yoga - Montauk. At Mindful Turtle Yoga, kids can capture their inner Om.

AMF Kids Fest - Wantagh. At AMF Bowling Alley, hit the lanes for an hour of free bowling - plus shoe rental - for kids from 10am-2pm. Free.

Bring on the Bats - Shelter Island. At Mashomack Preserve, families can learn about these nocturnal creatures.

Movies on the Beach - Long Beach. At New York Ave. beach, the family can gather on lawn chairs or blanket sand watch a showing of The Goonies under the stars. Free.

Sunday, August 23

Cardboard Boat Race - Riverhead. Races start at noon. Hula Hoop Contest for ages 12 and under and ages 13 and older at 11:30am.

Squawk: The Live Bird Show - Farmingdale. Starring eight magnificent Macaws, amazing Amazons, an incredible Conure and one kooky cockatoo.

Magic at the 294 - Farmingdale. Family-friendly comedy and magic.

Family Fun Day - Middle Island. At Saddle Rock Ranch, this event will include veteran band performances, Kan Jam Contest, Face Painting, Chili Contest, Bounce House, Cotton Candy, Snow Cones, Bobbing for Apples and more. This event will benefit veterans.

Sensory Garden Sundays - Oyster Bay. At Planting Fields Arboretum, children will have the opportunity to see, taste, touch, smell and listen to the wonders of the sensory garden. Free.

Summer Sundays - Brookhaven. At Brookhaven National Lab, tour the world-class facilities, attend an array of dynamic science talks and participate in special activities each week on Sundays in the summer. Free.

Polo in the Park - Bethpage. Take in a polo match and some family fun at Bethpage State Park.

Sunday Kids Clubs - East Hampton. Visit Hampton Kids for a mini camp on Sundays. Snacks, arts, lunch, games and bouncy houses.

Family Sundays at the Museum - Roslyn. Families can attend a day of festivities and activities at the Nassau County Museum of Art.

Seatuck Family Nature Club - Islip. These programs will be geared around the current season and include topics such as seasonal birds, tremendous trees and signs of the season. Free.
