Weekend Fun for LI Kids: Railroad Festival, PirateFest, Royal Tea Party, Puppet Theater August 29-30

Get the family all aboard for some fun with trains at the Railroad Festival in Riverhead this weekend. Ride, see and play with trains all day long. Or have your prince and princesses get the royal treatment at this special Tea Party in Oakdale.

On Sunday, spend the afternoon at Eisenhower Park on a playground, playing miniature golf or watching family-friendly puppet theater.

Railroad Festival - Riverhead. Join the Railroad Museum of Long Island as they celebrate its 26th annual festival. Model trains, replica train cars, traditional railroad music and food. Enjoy a ride on a miniature World's Fair train and even take a jaunt to Greenport aboard a real train.

The Royal Tea Party - Oakdale. At CM Performing Arts, meet princesses, learn princess etiquette, participate in a sing-a-long and enjoy tea and cookies.

Book Signing - Mattituck. Lili Derek authors will be signing books and having fun at Love Lane Toys.

Rubber Ducky Races - Flanders. Friends of the Big Duck invite kids to participate in rubber ducky races for prizes.

Movies on the Beach - Long Beach. Watch a movie under the stars. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and a picnic dinner. Free.

Little Cowpokes Pony Club - Bridgehampton. Kids are invited to feed animals, take a pony ride, groom the horses and more.

Family Drip Painting - East Hampton. Create your own drip and pour painting at the Pollock-Krasner House.

PirateFest - Cold Spring Harbor. At the Whaling Museum, enjoy a swashbuckling celebration of all things pirate, including crafts, door prizes for costumes and face painting.

Puppet Show - East Meadow. At Eisenhower Park, families can enjoy a puppet show. Free.

Nature Goes High Tech - Oyster Bay. At Sagamore Hill, bring your phone or GPS to learn about birds, bees, bugs and trees on a family hike. Free.

Open House - Roslyn. At Kidville, learn about programs, classes and more. Free.

Sensory Garden Sundays - Oyster Bay. At Planting Fields Arboretum, children will have the opportunity to see, taste, touch, smell and listen to the wonders of the sensory garden. Free.

Polo in the Park - Bethpage. Take in a polo match and some family fun at Bethpage State Park.

Sunday Kids Clubs - East Hampton. Visit Hampton Kids for a mini camp on Sundays. Snacks, arts, lunch, games and bouncy houses.

Family Sundays at the Museum - Roslyn. Families can attend a day of festivities and activities at the Nassau County Museum of Art.

Seatuck Family Nature Club - Islip. These programs will be geared around the current season and include topics such as seasonal birds, tremendous trees and signs of the season. Free.
