Just got back from this great show. It is hard to believe a story that has been around since the 1930's could seem so alive, but the current production of The Wizard of Oz playing at MSG now through April 5 is a spectacle worth seeing, filled with spectacular sets, a modern twist here and there, plenty of timeless music and a tale that makes everyone, young and young-at-heart, beam with admiration for Dorothy, Toto and her crew of characters. The show is lengthy, at over two and a half hours long, but it captivated my three year old son the entire time and the finale is worth waiting for. If you go, encourage your kids to dress as their favorite character, as the production team recommends; the costumes throughout the theater alone were worth fighting weekend traffic at Penn Station for.
