Mostly Free & Fun Things to Do This Weekend in Westchester: Legoland, Jazz Festival, Science Fun July 27 & 28

This weekend has lots of fun in store with music and cultural festivals, a pop concert, family science fun and Legos! Peekskill hosts their annual Jazz & Blues Festival this weekend and Legoland Discovery Center's Lego Legends of Chima event is going on all weekend. On Saturday, Gate Hill Day Camp opens its doors to give you a taste of their camp experience and Rye Playland continues their concert series with pop band R5. On Sunday, Hudson River Museum hosts their Family Sunday series with Spin, Pop...Boom! science demonstration and the annual Jewish Heritage Festival is happening at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla.

Lego Legends of Chima Event - Yonkers
Check out Legoland's new 4D CHIMA movie (12 minutes), go on a scavenger hunt (you could even win a family four-pack of annual passes!) and check out Master Model Builder Academy where guests will create animal warriors from the World of CHIMA. Events are included with the price of admission. $22 for adults, $18 for kids.

Saturday

R5 Live in Concert - Rye
Have a tween that's crazy about Disney pop bands? R5, featuring Ross Lynch from Disney's 'Austin & Alley' and 'Teen Beach Movie', will be performing at Rye Playland. Show starts at 5pm; reserved seating is sold out but standing room only and lawn seating is included with price of park admission. Spectator passes start at $10.

Mini Camp Event - Stony Point
Gate Hill Day Camp is opening its doors on Saturday to give guests a taste of what a day is like during their summer camp. Enjoy camp games and art projects and go for a swim in their heated pool complex, complete with water slides and diving board. 10am-2pm. FREE

Peekskill Jazz & Blues Festival - Peekskill
This annual event kicks off Friday at 8pm and continues all day on Saturday. On Friday check out 9 different bands competing for a shot to perform on the main stage and vote for your favorite. Saturday catch live music on two different stages, enjoy local food at the Peekskill Eat’s Fair and locally made hand-crafted products at the Artisanal Fair. Take a free ride on the Peekskill Trolley, with shuttle service from the Peekskill Metro-North train station and Water Street Commuter Parking lots. FREE

Sunday

Spin, Pop...Boom! - Yonkers
Head to Hudson River Museum and marvel at their Mad Science demonstration. Part of Family Summer Sunday series at the amphitheater. FREE

Jewish Heritage Celebration - Valhalla
Celebrate Jewish culture at Kensico Dam Plaza. Bring your blankets and chairs and enjoy a day of live music, food, lots of family activities and a wide array of vendors. FREE

Beyond Westchester

Head to the New London Waterfront in Connecticut for a festival just for kids that celebrates children's literature and life on the sea at Fish Tails, Tugs Sails 2013
