Long Island Kids' Activities February 14-15: Valentine's Day Activities, Crafts, Parents Night Out & More

Let love in this Valentine's Day weekend! Celebrate with the family with a craft, outdoor exploration or party. Later on, drop the kids off at a parents' night out event. Live performances of Little Bo Peep, The Snow Queen, Little Mermaid Jr. and Shrek the Musical are also underway at various theaters across Long Island.

Little Bo Peep - Port Jefferson. At Theatre Three, this is a live performance. Through Feb. 21. Cost: $10/ticket.

The Snow Queen - Northport. Live performance at the Engeman Theatre. Runs every Saturday and Sunday through March 8.Cost: $15/ticket.

Little Mermaid Jr. - Smithtown. Live performance at the Smithtown Center for the Performing Arts. Cost: $15.

Paint Party - Port Jefferson. Kids can be a material scientist for the weekend at The Maritime Explorium. Cost: $5/person.

Seal Cruise - Freeport. Hop aboard the Captain Lou in Freeport, hosted by the Riverhead Foundation to search for harbor seals and other mammal life. Monday, Jan. 19 too. Runs through April 12. Cost: $19-$26.

Messy Afternoons at LICM – Garden City. At the Long Island Children’s Museum, all weekend long. Cost: Free with museum admission.

Explorer Family Backpacks – Uniondale. Pick up a backpack and explore the world through this Hofstra University gallery. Cost: Free.

Saturday, February 14

Puppet Show - Sag Harbor. At Goat on a Boat Puppet Theatre. Cost: $12, kids under age 3 are $8.

Discover Winter Birds at the Great Backyard Bird Count - Oyster Bay. Nature walk. Bring binoculars. Cost: Free.

Valentine's Day Party - Roslyn. Gym time, art table, snacks and Rockin' Railroad performance. Cost: $10/members, $20/non-members.

Nautical Knot Tying - Cold Spring Harbor. At the Whaling Museum, learn to tie the special knots used by sailors, past and present. Cost: $4 kids age 3-12, & seniors 65 & up; $6 adults. Under age 3 is free.

Valentine's Day Play Date - Bellmore. At Le Play Cafe, babies, toddlers and preschoolers can enjoy open play, a Valentine's Day craft, tattoos, parachute and cookies and juice. Cost: $15/child, $10/siblings.

Bird Feeder Craft - Glen Cove. Build your own bird feeder. Cost: Admission + $5 craft fee.

Valentine's Day Ice Princess Party - Amityville. Manicure, hair, makeup, glitter tattoo, photos, dancing, sing-a-long, pizza and dessert. Cost: $34.99.

Free IEP Workshop - Mineola. Understanding your child's IEP, placement, programs, etc. Cost: Free.

Valentine's Day Workshop - Bellmore. Kids will decorate lollipops treats for this one-hour workshop. Cost: $20.

Little Bo Peep - Port Jefferson. Live theater. Cost: $10.

Shrek The Musical - Bellmore. At The Showplace, Plaza Theatrical Productions, this is a live performance. Cost: $10.

Creative Movements - Westbury. For little dancers ages 3-5. Cost: $20/class.

Swam Lake Act II - Ronkonkoma. Ballet Long Island presents this live performance. Cost: $9-18.

Valentine's Day Craft Event - Riverhead. Craft at Safari Adventure. Cost: $14 children, $9.25 for toddlers (includes all day play.

Valentine's Gift to Wildlife - Oyster Bay. Make a special birdseed treat for feathered friends at the Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary. Cost: $5 or a bird seed donation.

What Does the Elephant Say? - Garden City. This "tooting" craft is a heartfelt valentines. Cost: Free with museum admission.

Parents Night Out - Huntington. Kids will make Valentine's votives, play games and enjoy pizza. At the Long Island Achievement Center. Cost: $25/child, $15/sibling.

Parent's Night Out - Sayville. At High Kick TKD, this is a drop-off event. Cost: $10/hour per child.

Parents Night Out - Smithtown. At Lil' Builders, kids will enjoy Lego fun, dinner, snacks, dessert and get to take home a mini-build or Lego heart necklace. Cost: $40/first builder, $30/second builder.

Science Saturday at the Long Island Science Center – Riverhead. Enjoy a day at the Long Island Science Center. Cost: $5/person.

Sunday, February 15

Magic Carpet Show - East Meadow. Children ages 4+ can enjoy this show put on by the Tricky Biz magic shop. Reservations required. Cost: $5.

Morgan's Journey - Garden City. Live performance at the Long Island Children's Museum. Cost: $5 with museum admission, $10/theater only.

Jungle Play - Bellmore. At Le Play Cafe, kids can enjoy open play, tattoos, parachutes, color your own jungle animal mask, jungle balloon animals to take home and animal crackers and juice. Cost: $15/child, $10/siblings.

Weekend Open Art Studio for Kids - East Hampton. Budding artists can work independently at Guild Hall on a variety of arts and crafts projects. Also on Sundays through Feb. 22. Cost: Free.

Seatuck Family Nature Club - Islip. These programs will be geared around the current season and include topics such as seasonal birds, tremendous trees and signs of the season. Cost: Free.

Family Sundays at the Museum - Roslyn. Each Sunday Nassau County Museum of Art offers a 1pm docent-led family walk-through of the exhibition and supervised art activities for the whole family beginning at 1:30pm. Cost: Free with museum admission.

Lego Club - Bridgehampton. Enjoy two hours of Lego fun every Sunday at the Children's Museum of the East End. Cost: $10/admission.

Sunday Kids Club - East Hampton. Drop off kids for a 9am-12pm kids camp at Hampton Kids. Cost: $30-40.
