Free Learn to Code Pre-Mother's Day Event for NYC Moms and Girls
In-the-know parents realize that coding is an important skill that will help children succeed in our increasingly tech-heavy world. And yet, computer programming still isn’t offered in most schools. That’s why Mommy Poppins is partnering with Code.org and Girls Who Code to help teach families how to do it at a pair of exclusive events.
Join us for Coding + Cupcakes, a special FREE early Mother’s Day workshop where moms and daughters can learn to code together using Code.org tutorials. Find out how easy it is to code with help from volunteers from Girls Who Code, a nonprofit group that's making sure girls aren't left behind in our technology-driven society. And to make this mother-daughter event extra sweet, everyone gets to decorate a cupcake, too.

Thanks to our generous partners, Beam Center and RoboFun, we have two locations:
Manhattan:
Saturday, May 3 at noon

Both Coding + Cupcakes events are open to moms and their daughters ages 6 and up. Anyone can learn to code; no prior experience is necessary. Since we have very limited space, each ticket is good for one parent and one child only. Please register for just one ticket per family and let us know if you can no longer attend so we can take people from the wait list. A confirmation will be required 24 hours before the event to hold your spot, so keep an eye out for the email.
Although we can only accommodate a small number of families at these events, we hope to partner with Code.org again in the future. Plus, anyone can learn to code by using the easy and fun tutorials from Code.org that are available for FREE online and can be done on any computer or tablet with an Internet connection.
Here are some other great ways to start your coding education from our partners:
Beam Center offers workshops, vacation and summer camps that introduce kids to a variety of coding, engineering and other cool skills in super-fun and creative ways.
RoboFun classes and camps cover robotics, video game design, animation and electronics for children ages 4 and up.
Girls Who Code offers middle and high school girls FREE coding clubs, workshops and a summer immersion camp.
All participants are volunteering time and resources for this event because we believe in the importance of introducing children of all backgrounds to coding.
