This summer, London artist Chris Long is celebrating childhood with This is Fun, a solo show at gallery hanahou featuring his new original works of children in their natural environments. With bright acrylics, Chris captures the exuberant feelings of children when adults have stepped out of the picture and kids are free to be themselves.

Explore the Himalayas at your own pace . . . 

Learners of any age are welcome to stop in and use their imagination at the RMA's Garuda Open Studio.  Play Asian games (like with the abacus), make art inspired by a gallery visit (such as your own mandala), dress up in colorful Himalayan costumes and scarves, and read in the Story Corner stocked with more than 100 Asian tales, including Jataka Tales (Buddhist parables), and I Once Was a Monkey.

Moving Through Art Early Childhood Program

Can you move like a painting?

Making art more interactive for a younger audience, this program encourages understanding of art through interpretative movement.  Guided by RMA educators, children will transform the artworks they encounter into poses, movement, and sound.

Moving Through Art is for kids ages 3-5 (accompanied by an adult).  Participants should bring their own thin, yoga-style mat; the program meets in the theater.

New York City 's oldest and largest powwow will feature three days of intertribal Native American dance competitions to which the public is invited. Over 40 Indian nations are represented at this spectacular event held in the apple orchard on the farm grounds.
