Summer Institute at St. Joseph’s College (SI@SJC) is a summer academic day program for students from across NYC. Our convenient Brooklyn campus is beautiful, safe and is a wonderful place to learn. We accept students who are currently in grades 5, 6, and 7 in our Middle School Summer Institute and students who are currently in Grades 8, 9, 10 and 11 in our High School Summer Institute. At SI@SJC our goal is to provide each student with one of the most enriching academic and social experiences of their life during their stay on our beautiful Brooklyn campus.
Our programs are designed to foster personal development through academic study and shared experience. During each one-week session, students choose one class on which to focus. We offer a broad array of courses that are unmatched in the metro area. Each student will have a unique opportunity to depart the program with a deeper understanding of themselves, their subject and the world. Plus they will have made an array of new friends!
During the day, students spend morning and afternoon sessions in their chosen classes. All of our classes are hands-on, interactive, and project based. Class sizes are small and feature talented and experienced faculty.
All classes are offered for both programs (except education which is offered only to the high school program). Age group programs divide classes, so Middle School students and high school students will have two distinct classrooms, teachers and depth of study.
All classes and curriculum are developed using one- week long academic modules. In this way any student can start any course at any session. Students may also take more than one session, in the same class, with minimal repetition. Students may also attend multiple sessions, taking multiple classes, and extend their learning throughout the summer! We have special pricing for students who attend more than one session, as we want to encourage multi-session attendance.
