This week's picks include singing and dancing with PlayHooray, as well as indulging in some sweet treats—along with rides and music—at the annual Mattituck Lions Club Strawberry Festival. And why should kids have all the fun? Drop them off at Bounce on Friday night and enjoy some adult time while they jump and climb.

Weekday Picks for Boston Kids: Farm Fun & Outdoor Music, June 15-19

While I'm a city girl at heart and love doing fun things in town with my kids, June is a great month to head into the great outdoors. My family enjoys a good walk in the woods or a picnic accompanied by great music, but some of the most tempting events this week are happening on local farms. And if you can't get out to a farm, let one come to you! With more and more farmers' markets opening for the season and tons of strawberry festivals coming up, tasty treats are right around the corner. Whatever you choose, have a great week, and don't forget to check out our full Event Calendar!

Play is the sole objective at a Teen Gaming Group, and Into the Woods is a film worth seeing (or re-seeing). Bonus: both are FREE! To truly celebrate the new season, whoop it up at a Summer Solstice Celebration.

Read on for all of our top picks of the week, and be sure to browse our Event Calendar for many more options in Westchester and the Hudson Valley. And remember, Father's Day is this Sunday and we've rounded up great ways to celebrate dads!

Weekday Picks for Connecticut Kids: Irish Fest, Peter Pan, Outdoor Concert June 15-19

For most CT families, summer break has just begun or this is the last week of school. Either way, it's time to celebrate! Lucky for all of us, there are lots of wonderful things to do with kids this week, like go on a horseshoe crab walk, see a live stage musical of Peter Pan or enjoy cultural fun at an Irish Festival.

We only highlight one event per day in this post, but there are many other options in our Event Calendar. For additional activity ideas, check out our Summer Fun Guide and like us on Facebook!

Things To Do with Kids at Mass Audubon's South Shore Sanctuaries

One of the things I'm truly loving about living in the 'burbs now that the weather's nice is the opportunity to be close to nature. The South Shore is known for its beautiful forests and marshes, and is home to a wide variety of birds, seals, and other forest friends. Mass Audubon's South Shore Sanctuaries—North River, Daniel Webster, and North Hill Marsh—are ideal places to discover the area's natural treasures.

North River serves as the indoor base for the three sanctuaries, with a nature center featuring a discovery room for kids, turtles, fish, an archeological station, bathrooms, and a gift shop. As we drove up the winding road to the North River Sanctuary's main building, we felt transported into a different world. Everything was so vibrant and bright, lush and crisp. Once inside, my son had a blast playing with the toys and exploring, while I learned about the variety of programs and things to do at the three sanctuaries.

Water Sports in Fairfield County: Boating, Kayaking, Sailing and More

Champing at the bit to get in or out on the water? There are many ways to do that in Connecticut. Fairfield County is home to lots of great beaches and swim clubs, and we've rounded up places to sail, row and stand-up paddleboard in the past. But today we're making one big long list of all the spots where you can boat, row, kayak, swim, sail and more. So print it out and stash it in your car for those days when getting wet is the only thing that will do!

Win Tickets to Minions: A Despicable Opportunity!

One summer movie kids can’t wait to see is Minions, the prequel to the highly successful Despicable Me series. Most kids have to wait until the film's release on July 10, but a few lucky Mommy Poppins readers can catch a sneak peek of these mischievous little fellows back in action at an advance screening hosted by our sponsor, Universal Studios, on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11am at AMC’s Century City Theater. Want to surprise your kids with some free tickets?
